Possession

Imagine spending your life stationary for decades. Then one fateful day a storm severs your tie with the earth and you find yourself floating for weeks, possibly months, on the ocean. Eventually high tide settles your time worn bones on the sands of Waterside Beach, the weather covers you with snow and there you reside, stationary once again. Suddenly, something trips over you and then stops to interrupt your winter slumber. You are dug out of the sand and snow and whisked across the frozen beach clamped tightly in the jaws of an adolescent Ridgeback. It would likely count very high on the list of thrilling events in your otherwise mundane life.
The wind once again on your out-stretched limb, the air fresh and light, and a sense of freedom envelopes your senses (in so much as a stick is capable). It is all very exciting ... until the chase is done and the puppy settles down to snap you apart and consume you like the dried up piece of wood you are.
