Happy First Birthday Leeloo!

Was it really just a year ago that the world was introduced to a very special, and strangely weird, Leeloo? At just three weeks Erin already had her pegged as one of the stand outs in the litter. Everyone was enamoured with those white feet of course. At 7 weeks Leeloo was still making an impression. The decision to bring a light wheaton with four white feet into Canada was an easy one when I saw this face. Little did I know how weird she would turn out to be. We met to make the Leeloo/Halo exchange last November and she was ready to take on the world. Well, to take on Raimi anyway. She settled right in to a life in Calgary and started stealing Boy's toys without delay. She had an auspicious start with the weird sleeping positions. And they got weirder ... And weirder. But it was all love for The Boy - he, like everyone, became enamoured with funny Leeloo. Even Halo, when she returned from her rendezvous with Zuli(to create Archer), didn't mind the usurper too much. Especially when Leeloo took over some motherly duties - who can forget this little scene? Leeloo is a superstar in so many ways including being an excellent traveller. She was exceptionally good on our trip across Canada and despite almost hanging herself in the truck power window(my fault) she survived the 5000km trek in good form. We arrived in Nova Scotia and headed for the beaches where Leeloo gazes upon her domain.

People often ask me what makes her so weird but I can't define it in words - to know the weird you must see it. Such a character has never graced my home and I can't begin to quantify the loving strangeness that is Leeloo.

Her first show at 9 months saw her winning a Best Puppy in Show - something I could never even have dreamt up. She is one of the most sound dogs I've ever seen move - simply floating above the ground - and exemplifies balance in structure. One day she will grow into those crazy ballerina legs and we'll take on the world one white foot at a time. Happy first birthday to my special little Bubbalicious ... may your sparkling personality shine upon this house for many years to come.

Yes, you do have quite the special pup there. We all get a kick out of Leeloo's antics. Happy Birthday, Superstar!
