The puppies first 'real' food introduction was a resounding success. The second litter I had, at 2 & a half weeks old, was less than impressed with this new food source. This litter seems to have caught on much more quickly.

They don't eat a lot, or well, but it's just to get the taste of solid food ticking over in their brains. It's also very messy and involves a lot of hand feeding so because I'm alone these are not prefect photos. Added to which, cameras, I'm pretty sure, don't like puppy mush in their cracks. Who does?

They have to learn to chew rather than suck since all of their food experience to this point has been latching onto a nipple and going for broke. Chewing and swallowing can be hard to master.

The food dish can be a complete mystery as is the food in it. Often they will stomp in it and go "Ew - what the heck?"

You have to effectively spoon feed them for a bit before they figure out how to eat on their own. Once they realize it's pretty much unlimited food as fast as you can eat it they are all in.

Little Mr Blue was the easiest to introduce since he was supplemented and he knows hands mean food.

And of couse Little Yellow Rio who figured out the food thing the fastest. Weird that.
